The Ghetto Gourmet

a wandering supperclub for lovers of fine cookin, cool art and new friends...

all sinners welcome.

Thanks for checking in on the Ghetto Gourmet.
We began as a monday night "pirate restaurant" in a basement apartment in Oakland, CA in early 2004. Here's a pic of our original digs...

Today, we're a wandering supperclub of chefs, performers, hosts and foodies making one-night-only dining events happen for our members and friends.
We're just one of the many "online social dining projects" that have emerged over the last few years. Check out The Movement for some press and links to projects all over the world!
We'll have some fresh GG events up in the next couple weeks. I've had a much needed restful month off here in Nashville, TN cooking up yummy new dishes with my bro Joe and the G-ma.
I think that's it. Looking forward to a great Oh!8! and hope to see you at dinner. Thanks for all your support and encouragement; eat right, have fun and be well.

Regarding Donating to Help In Burma

I have been getting a lot of comments from people about what is being said on the news regarding donating to the tragedy in Burma. This is a first hand report from a family member about the situation. They know what they are doing and are honest and direct reporters. There are ways to help the people in Burma.... Virginia Woolf as inspiration?

Allow me to get literary for a minute, OK? Whenever I get ready to throw a party, I can't help but think of Virgina Woolf's famous first line: "Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself." She was a privileged woman, after all, but she insists on no servants, thank you, and no ride to the flower shop. She was throwing a party that night, and more than anything, SHE wanted to go walk through the streets of London to pick up the flowers herself. En route, she falls in madly love with e… Continue

Ghet up, stand up!

Dear friends, The Ghetto Girls are your friends Angela and Carrie, and this is an invitation to our new social dining project. A few months ago, daydreaming about finding new outlets for creativity, we realized we were having similar ideas. At the same time Carrie was imagining casual conversation featuring classic dishes for good friends, Angela was testing recipes to gain enough experience to moonlight as a caterer one day. Together, we’d like to feed our daydreams and do the things we love… Continue
