The Ghetto Gourmet

We had a fantastic evening with 44 lucky diners on July 19 at Periscope Cellars The night kicked off with a Quickfire challenge (in honor of the Top Chef Season 1 kitchen we used): guests were blindfolded and had to guess the seasoning for housemade potato chips. Ben, Lin and Mary won, correctly guessing sesame seed oil, sea salt, rosemary and cumin. Nobody got the herbs de provence!
The piquillo pepper-Early Girl tomato soup and flank steak with black currant gastrique reigned supreme, and were paired with such greats as the Andrew Lane Wine 2006 Gamay Noir.
