A native New Yorker, Chef Sudhir Popat has been cooking in the Bay Area for the past five years. After graduating form Boston University in 2001 with a BA in Philosophy and Religion, he moved to California to pursue his culinary aspirations. Upon completing his studies at the CCA Sudhir began honing his craft in restaurants and with catering companies. From the kitchens of Andalu and the Slow Club to the numerous events of Paula Le Duc catering, Sudhir has pushed his palette to discover new fusion techniques to combine his Indian heritage with his passion for food.

This past Sunday, September 21, Nancy G. hosted a cozy Canvas lunch in her newly planted succulent garden in Glen Park, San Francisco.

About 20 guests trickled in, having heard about the event from friends, the New York Times, and even Meetup.com! By the end of the meal, everyone was chatting with each other as if they were old friends. Chef Peter Jackson popped in for a bit, while guest chef, Sudhir Popat, prepared the first course: Fresh Pasta from Phoenix Pastificio in Berkeley with a shitake, chanterelle, baby portabello mushroom sauce. The main course included a monolithic chicken saltimboca on a bed of spinach salad.

In between courses, the guests got to make their own citron-limoncello, generously provided by Susie W. of Artisan Food Discoveries....
