Hello All!
I have been kicking around the idea of hosting a St.Patty's day Green chile cookoff at my home next month on March 20th (the Saturday after St. Pattys) not sure on the start time yet. Have a handful of friends (not members of GG) that are into it, but to do it up right I would need help with the serving for each contestant, bartending, mc, ballots, judging, coordination/ set up,etc. and hoping to recruit some volunteers. Just wanted to test the waters a bit and see what kind of interest I got back from the group. Here are my intial ideas for the event : First and Best- It would be a free event- would simply ask that everyone bring a potluck dish - preferably something that would compliment green chile. Entry fee would be 20 bucks and a large crockpot full of your tastiest green chile recipe, with cash prizes for 1st place and 2nd place in 2 categories. The more entries the bigger the pot. (no pun intended) My Lakewood home is quite modest, but with a large unfinished basement that would fit the bill. This is afterall the Ghetto Gourmet right? Could be alot of fun, just need the support of the group to pull it off. If interested in participating please drop me an email: kristina757@hotmail.com and let me know either what you would be bringing as a potluck- to avoid duplicate dishes- or if you would like to help organize. If the response is a good one I'll have more information available to you all soon. Looking forward to hearing from you!
