Former Top Chef contestant and Absinthe chef Jamie Lauren is turning the judging tables on you. The challenge? Create an original first-course dish using asparagus that would be right at home on Absinthe’s menu of American-influenced French brasserie and Northern Italian cuisine, write up the recipe and submit it to 7x7.com.

Visit WKamauBell.com for more info and tickets.

10.20.08 Canvas Dinner in Oakland - Recap

Our guests were raving mad about this dinner. Chef Peter really outdid himself, making the tasso and bacon himself and the apple dessert used apples from his very own backyard! Wolfe Ranch (Vacaville, CA) provided the juicy plump quail (because he keeps 'em alive for an extra 6 weeks).

"This was a wonderful meal. Beautiful plating, and absolutely delicious combination of dishes. My favorite was the shrimp dish, and I hope to attempt the dish at home. Thanks!" - Jolene

"Sublime quail. Best I ever had!" - Allison

"Not only was the food superlative, but hearing the background and being able to meet new people is so far superior to a restaurant. So impressive too how it all ran like clockwork!" - Susie
