Greetings from New York City! Today was the first event for the Low Down dirty Grub Club, and I'm afraid you missed a wonderful meal! We had six people show up for our dim sum hog-a-thon, and we enjoyed everything from steamed roast pork bus to almond cookie ice cream. Please see our meal report and photos in the Forum.

A special thank you to the following companies and people:

Holly from Modern Tea with Company provided us with two kinds of tea, as well as tea-themed goodie bags. Everyone was deeply impressed at the quality of her offerings. Holly is now the Officiial Tea purveyor to the Low Down dirty Grub Club; also, please check out Holly's NYC Meetup group, which combines afternoon tea with charitable work!

Our ice cream was purchased at The Chinatown Ice Cream company, which has some innovative flavors and a truly gracious staff.

Our steamed roast pork buns were purchased at the incomparable Mandarin Court Restaurant in Chinatown which also has an amazing dim sum lunch.

Mira and I purchased our cooked meats as well as other ingredients at New Kam Man Market in Chinatown. If you're ever in the market for a roast duck or some pork tripe, this is a place your should definitely check out.

Finally, some of our dishware was purchased at Pearl River Market, which has incredible low prices and really nice porcelain. If you ever need table items for a Chinese or Japanese dinner, this is a place you should check out.

Thank you to all the participants who came out in incredibly bad weather and made our event a success. We love you guys!

What an amazing afternoon. The food was incredible, and the rain provided a gorgeous backdrop to our cozy candlelit setting.

I really can't wait for the next one!

Thanks again to everyone who came out and contributed to making it such an awesome day. It was really great meeting all of you and I hope to see you at our next event, in the works for sometime later this month/earlier next month. Also, many many thanks to our kick-ass host Michele for offering up (in addition to some totally rad culinary treats) her apartment, her energy, enthusiasm and joy to a whole bunch of New York weirdos she didn't even know. Give it up, yalls! Look forward to see you again soon.
