A big old house in Fairfield, NJ - 25 mins outside of Manhattan
About Me:
Proud Mixed Ethnic Heritage and a disdain of boring and/or garbage food lead me to studying traditional Middle Eastern, Indian and Northern African cooking.

Half way through writing a book that tries to demystify Eastern/Asian cooking styles, ingredients and flavors for average Western cooks - with matching website.

I have been throwing traditional wazwans or diffas for large (200 + )numbers out in the woods at a medieval recreation event and for the SCA for about 12 years. Totally outfitted with a huge canvas outdoor pavilion and kitchen pavilion to pull off guerrilla dinner parties. Looking to meet people with an interest in local produce, traditional and tribal flavors, and more of a reason to do what I love- without having to belong to a recreationist group .....Tribal belly dancer, collect Moroccan and Indian brass tables and serving ware. Bored to tears in NJ- going to farmer's market and garlic festival now. Maybe see you secretly there...

It's getting cold out there ~ how's about a hot dessert?

I woke up this morning with a chill that crept in all the way to my bones. Wind howling, rain starting to fall in big fat drops that crunch fallen laves. Halloween pumpkins starting to look like tired old men slouching on my front porch. Balls. I hate winter.

So, perhaps we should make something warm to snack on and to fortify against the craptastic weather, no?

Hello, hello! So there is a garlic festival in North Western New Jersey tomorrow from 11am to 4 pm. It's being held at Old Lafayette Village. It promises a melange of locally grown, organic garlics, tasty treats, crafts, etc. Here are the goods:
