Perhaps, but internationally underground dinners have been going on almost as long as speakeasies and jute joints... But like most things that last longer than just a passing fad, evolution brings with it changes... I will say that today, and…
Christian, I must agree whole heartedly with Chef Amy. As someone who has been to a number of underground dinners, and someone producing a show about them, I must say that "There's nothing to it" is an over simplifcation of the…
This past Saturday night was one of the best in a gourmet sense. Chef Amy Jurist threw an underground dinner that has no rivals. It was purely the bomb. The Bacon theme was a more than met with some of the most inventive foods, from the bacon…
If you have room for any more, my boyfriend and I would love to do something like this as well in February. Unfortunately, we were too late for the Amy Jurist event this time:(
Hey Elena. You've done really well finding these places... I'll start my footwork and see what I can find. A few of them I already have. But thanks so much. BTW, are you going to Amy Jurist's A Night In Paris dinner on Feb 13? My wife…
So far I've found Amy's Culinary Adventures, Alessandra's Orgasmo de la Boca, Rachael & Suzanne's Chicks with Knives (attended), and Pace Webb's Taste of Pace (attended). Not to mention specialty dinners like those for…
Hi there, Elena. David G. here. It would be a pleasure to give you a lift to any of the events my wife and I are going to. I'm a New Englander myself, having gone to college in NYC. So meeting another "friend" from back home would be…
I live in Tarzana, right next to Woodland Hills, but as a transplanted NYer I don't drive. My darling husband does, but is older than me and often too tired after work to then drive "over the hill". If the West-Siders get things…
I'm a foodie who's totally turned on by the idea of underground restaurants and I'm looking to learn more... and perhaps have the chance to try some out. So step one I guess is getting my interest out there and hoping for the generosity of strangers to direct/guide me to finding some.

Jade, the manager at the downtown Urth cafe, is a total gastronome. She's dialed into the underground scene and keeps promising to send Virginia and I invitations, but then forgets. I say you promise her associate producer credits and see what happens. D
Great! Let me know if you need any specific recipes from the list of dishes I put up on my profile

David,
Do you subscribe to Thrillist? There is a message today about Ludo Bites and it sounds interesting, kind of like underground dinners, this chef pops up at others restaurants and makes fabulous sounding food.
Check it out. Thrillist has lots of good info.

David,
Thank you for the info too. I just emailed my husband to see if he wants to go on Dec 5th, sorry you and your wife won't be able to make it. Maybe we'll meet somewhere along the way of this exciting underground world of food.
Have you attended any of the "Outstanding in the Field" dinners? I have not yet.
Happy Holidays
Brenda
