Is there a chef out there, famous or not, that you just love? Is it the way they cook, the style they cook, or something else? I love Jacques Pepin. I read his biography and I watch on tv anytime I can. I just love to watch him work. I also love Mario Batali because Italian food is my favorite food to cook and he know so much. I love watching Molto Mario and watching him cook and share information to his friends.

I love to cook. It's one of my passions. Eating great food is another one of those passions. I love trying new foods, creating dishes with great ingredients and teaching and sharing my knowledge of food with others. My favorite foods are Italian, Indian, French, Thai, Persian, Mexican and Japanese.
I also love volleyball, television and movies, hanging out with friends, writing, reading, playing piano and taking pictures.

Hey IE foodies! Orville here! Sean Nealon, a reporter from the Press Enterprise newspaper sent me a message on my page telling me that he wants to write an article about Ghetto Gourmet! Isn't that cool? So for all chefs, cooks and foodies who live in the IE and the surrounding areas, join GGIE (Ghetto Gourmet Inland Empire) and let's give Sean something to write about!

I was watching as episode of Ultimate Throwndown with Bobby Flay and his assignment was sushi. He went against Phillip Yi of Sushi Central. It's right here in LA! So for you sushi lovers out there, try the place out and let me know what you think. His spicy tuna maki looked pretty good. Here's the website for Sushi Central:
Bacon Wrapped Dates with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
Serves 10 people
Ingredients
15 slices bacon or turkey bacon, cut in half
30 dates
Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
2 red peppers, roasted, skin removed, roughly chopped
1 c. heavy cream
1 T. finely minced chives
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350. Take half slice of bacon and wrap around date. Secure with toothpick. Repeat with all bacon and dates. Place on cookie sheet. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until bacon is slightly browned and crispy. If using turkey bacon, drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil before baking if desired to help turkey bacon to brown.
For sauce, place peppers in blender along with heavy cream. Blend until creamy. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add chives and mix with spoon. Serve bacon wrapped dates with sauce.
This is the original recipe. Instead of chives, I used sage. About 1 t. freshly chopped sage should do it. Then I added about 3 T. granulated sugar and about 3-4 T. of red wine vinegar. And instead of cream, I used milk. It tastes better with heavy cream. It sticks on the bacon better.
