We're witnessing a renaissance of sorts (in our relationship to food and cooking) perhaps as important as the invention of restaurants in 18th century France.

Sounds great. I second the caution about avoiding Easter, too!

Hey Alex I have been cooking up a storm for self, friends, and family lately. Discovered new Mardi Gras recipes for both food and drink--great fun. Headed out to Avalon, a new Scottsdale eaterie close to my office, which had a great menu that the…

Yikes, Tes, I'm behind on things. Let's see. Cool? Well, I learned how to make a custard and I tried the veggie sandwich at hobnob... also I've been learning to make and use herbes de provence. You?

Dang. I just got this message. Sorry. I might be able to do breakfast another day this week or maybe we should grab a glass of wine at Cheuvront's. It was really awful watching what the majority in the Senate did to him and Paula Aboud and Kyrsten and everyone on the gay marriage bill on Friday. It was truly mean-spirited, unjust, and immoral.

My favorite food surprise of the week: the tiny cucumbers at the Phoenix Downtown market. I picked a couple up last Wednesday afternoon. Everyone was wilting, but the food was fresh, crisp, and still inviting, in spite of the oppressive heat! I finally dug into the cucumbers last night and I wish I'd bought more. They were perfect. They tasted just the right shade of green, had exactly the right moisture content, and were crisp to the bite. They remind me how much I love summer foods fresh off the vine.
