Drew, owner of Andrew Lane Wines, turned me onto this very cool event, “Passport to the East Bay Wine Trail”, happening this coming Saturday, April 5th, 2008. It's sponsored by the East Bay Vintners Alliance to promote urban wineries of the East Bay (San Francisco). You can buy tickets at
www.andrewlanewines.com for $30 ($35 at door). Admission includes tasting at all of the 13 participating wineries, a souvenir wine glass, tasty food pairings produced by the winery or in partnership with local restaurants and caterers, cellar tours with winemakers, and more!
The event will showcase 13 different wineries at 8 locations in Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, and Alameda and will include the following wineries: Adams Point, Andrew Lane, Aubin Cellars, Dashe Cellars, Eno Wines, Irish Monkey, JC Cellars, Lost Canyon Winery, Periscope Cellars, Rosenblum Cellars, Tayerle Wines, Two Mile, and Urbano Cellars. The wine list will include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot noir, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne, Rousanne, and Tropical fruit wines.
The East Bay Alliance's website has a nifty Google map showing which wineries are open or by appointment only: http://eastbayvintners.com/map/
