So my first organizing of a Ghetto Gourmet event happened this past Sunday I would have to say it was a hit. I have wanted to get into meeting people that are foodies and going to different places to eat.
We started off with a Japanese Ramen Outing.
We went to
Ippudo on 10th St & 4th Ave, NYC. I was not sure who would show. Four GG’er had messaged that they were in. On day of I heard from Gaya and Tricia. I had told a good friend (Apryl) about GG a week ago and she signed up. She thought she would not be able to make it but did. Just to eat some of my Ramen and have some wine.
The evening went as I hoped. Meeting interesting, fun people that are into food. And trying/tasting food. We ordered a bunch of different things and all passed them around. We even passed around our drinks. Conversation was never lacking. It only got political for a bit and we where all on the same side so it was fun. We even talked about what to do next. Gaya is from India so she will have the pressure/pleasure of picking a place that will represent her culture.
After dinner Tricia, Apryl and myself went over to my friends wine bar on East 12th St called
Pata Negra. We moved the great talk there. Had and shared three different glasses of wine and then called it a night.
I’m glad I joined The Ghetto Gourmet and I look forward to other events and meeting more people. And meeting up with Tricia & Gaya again and maybe next time meeting her husfriend ;-)
I forgot to take pictures with my phone to post… Next time.
Cheers,
Evan
