French in the Mission

It is the crack of dawn(almost) and today, I am working to bring a little Provence into Mission. Provence is where friendship is expressed at the table with food and wine. Under a canopy of trees, bread is broken and the wine flows. The food is hearty and assertive. This isnt squiggledy doodle food. Food wont be smeared or painted. Pruneaux etc

(I dont know how to work this blog right and I am unable to check out the friends' requests...can anyone give me pointers?) The gold standard of boozy prunes is Pruneaux a l'Armagnac where the plump Prunes d'Agen(that will set you back at least 2 bucks a prune!) steeped in Armagnac(it has its own snifter..I will stop now or this post will be creeping in directions i cant afford). About a year ago, I delivered my first Ghetto Gourmet dinner to celebrate the birthday of a beautiful lady's at her San Francisco home. Dinner was served in their backyard patio that opened up to the cool summer skies. It was a beautiful day with temperatures crossing the 80s and after sundown,the weather became soothingly cooler.
