My favorite food surprise of the week: the tiny cucumbers at the Phoenix Downtown market. I picked a couple up last Wednesday afternoon. Everyone was wilting, but the food was fresh, crisp, and still inviting, in spite of the oppressive heat! I finally dug into the cucumbers last night and I wish I'd bought more. They were perfect. They tasted just the right shade of green, had exactly the right moisture content, and were crisp to the bite. They reminded me how much I love summer foods off of the vine.
Take care, have a great weekend, and keep me posted on what's up, mmmk??
The drive thru the Farm at South Mountain is enchanting. The food at Quiessence is simply delicious. So if you haven't been you must go! If you have dined at Q go again. The menu changes daily depending on what's in season.
